Our Story

Our founders David and Di were listening to the personal stories of people in Asia and Europe who were marginalized, misunderstood or, worse, demonized and blamed, simply for being different. Ageing people in an ageing society finding themselves silenced. Ethnically different people in a multicultural society finding themselves suspected. People like just us, yet facing an apparent lack of comprehension that people can have different wisdom, different experiences and different world views. 

 

With a global network of people keen to share ideas and cooperate on projects, they set out to demonstrate that it is possible to de-polarize and re-connect, to foster trust and collaboration at the local level. To create a safe space for everyone to be heard and valued.

 

So, in 2024 a diverse group of “social entrepreneurs” formed a non-profit association, 1EarthVillage Forum, Incorporated. Amongst them were business people, a trade union leader, a farmer, an artist, a disability advocate, a mental health worker, a Buddhist monk, a public health expert, an engineer, a diplomat, amongst others.

 

The journey began in Tasmania, Australia, but soon expanded to inter-generational and inter-cultural dialogues in Bangladesh and China, with projects planned in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Each is locally owned and locally driven, but all are about demonstrating that diversity and wisdom can make better futures.
